We are looking for a wonderful, live in Housekeeper  / House Person to help support a lovely family of 4 in Norfolk.

Hours: 40 hours per week (including weekend work), to be agreed with the family

Overall job purpose

This full-time, live-in role, will require a flexible and practical approach.  The role of the Housekeeper is to provide a pro-active, consistent general housekeeping service to the family.

Job description

The following is intended to provide guidance as to duties but it is not exhaustive.  You will from time to time be required to undertake other activities of a similar nature that fall within your capabilities as directed by the principle.

  • To ensure that the Hall is tidy and organised at all times.
  • To manage the 2x part-time cleaners, assisting with deep cleans from time to time.
  • To carry out all the laundry, ironing and bed linen changes for the principle and his children, when they are at home.
  • To shop for the household food, cleaning and other domestic items.
  • To cook for the principle, his children and any guests, as required.
  • To ensure that you always remain aware and alert to the family’s needs, responding to those needs in a timely, polite and efficient manner, even when busy.
  • To always work with the utmost discretion and sensitivity with regards to the family and their guests.
  • To ensure that the house is ready for any events or entertaining, including preparing guest bedrooms, if required.
  • To carry out daily household chores such as loading and unloading the dishwasher and emptying the bins.
  • To be flexible and responsive to support other members of the Estate team, so that a high level of service is consistently delivered, and we operate as one team.
  • To identify and alert house owner of any maintenance issues arising concerning fixtures and fittings in the family home.
  • To replenish log baskets and lay fires, as required.
  • To walk and feed the dogs, as required.
  • To feed the chickens and put them away at night, as required.
  • To undertake any other relevant activities or errands which fall under the general scope of this role.

Personal Qualities

The successful candidate will:-

  • Possess previous housekeeping experience, ideally in a private household.
  • Be friendly, reliable, hardworking, discrete and trustworthy.
  • Be flexible, energetic and pro-active.
  • Be able to work as a team player as well as a stand alone employee
  • Be good at taking direction but also able to work under your own initiative and solve problems.
  • Have a genuine commitment to work to the highest possible standards with excellent attention to detail.
  • Have a positive attitude and an ability to work calmly under pressure.
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK
  • Possess a full, clean UK driving licence and ideally have their own car (due to the rural location of family home)
  • Be a non-smoker.

Other

The successful candidate will be required to undertake a DBS check and will need to have excellent previous employment references.

Weekend and bank holiday working will be required. 

It would be great if the person has some connection with Norfolk or is local to the area.
