Senior Gardener, Halesworth, Suffolk Ref JF1597

Full Time experienced Senior Gardener required for beautiful 10 acre garden within a private, country, Estate located approx 5 miles South West of Halesworth, Suffolk and 13 miles West of the coastal town of Southwold. A great location for people who enjoy being close to the beach for their days off.

We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic person with a great work ethic who would genuinely love the opportunity to maintain and improve this stunning garden. Someone with a real flair and passion who takes a pride in their work.

The successful person will be very hands on and have extensive horticultural knowledge. RHS qualifications would be preferred but not essential as long as the experience in a similar garden is proven.

You will be working with one other full time gardener, so someone who works well with others is a must and who has the ability to advise and assist when necessary.

The gardener must be friendly, polite and easy to get along with.

This is a 39 hour week – Monday to Thursday-start time 7.30 am until 4.15 pm and Friday 7.30am to 3.15 pm. There is the opportunity to earn overtime if required.

Accommodation available on the Estate.

The garden comprises 4 acres of walled garden and 6/7 further acres of formal lawns, borders, topiary, cutting garden, greenhouse, vegetable garden, trees, water features and wild flower areas.

The Position:-

• Carrying out all general gardening tasks, weeding, pruning, replanting, mulching, edging, cutting  back etc
• Maintaining the lawns using large garden machinery, including ride on mower, strimmer etc
• Spraying and weed control with an environmentally friendly approach.
• Growing vegetables and fruit for the house.
• Maintaining and refreshing the cutting garden, rose garden and keeping the formal borders immaculate.
• Maintaining hedges which includes topiary

The Person:-

• Reliable, polite, well presented with an easy to have around personality.
• Will have extensive horticultural experience and knowledge, preferably RHS qualified.
• Will be able to use and maintain large garden machinery.
• Will be able to provide fully checkable references for similar senior gardening positions.
• Happy to work in all weathers and know instinctively what needs doing and when, through the seasons.
• Enthusiastic with a genuine passion for horticulture and makes sure things are done correctly.
• A car driver with own transport.
• Will have PA1 and PA6 spray certificates.
