Assistant Gardener, Halesworth, Suffolk Ref JF1600

Full Time Assistant Gardener required to join a small team managing the maintenance of this beautiful Estate Garden. The garden has approx 10 acres comprising a 4 acre walled garden and a further 6/7 acres with a variety of areas. Located 8 miles South of Saxmundham, Suffolk Easy access via the A12.

The ideal person will have previously worked as a gardener within a large,  country house garden and have good horticultural knowledge. Someone who can carry out all general gardening including, weeding, pruning, cutting back, planting, digging over, mulching and all other jobs as required throughout the seasons.

This role will also include lawn care using large garden machinery, such as ride on mower, strimmer, hedge cutter etc. Experience with topiary would be an advantage.

The gardens comprise the following areas:

• Formal lawns and borders
• Wild flower areas
• Rose and cutting gardens
• Vegetable garden
• Trees
• Greenhouse
• Water Feature
• Topiary

The Person:-

• Reliable, trustworthy, polite and well presented.
• Hard working and enthusiastic with a genuine love of gardening.
• Experienced with large garden machinery.
• Will have good horticultural experience and good plant identification knowledge.
• Happy to work in all weathers
• A car driver with own transport.

You will be working alongside the Senior Gardener so this is not an isolated position, however there will be times when you are required to work alone.

This is a Monday to Friday position with the opportunity to earn overtime if required. Normal hours will be 7.30am to 4.15pm with an early finish of 3.15pm on Friday.

This would suit a local person with own transport due to the rural location of the Estate.
