A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Houseman to join a small team who take care of this fabulous country house located approx 9 miles south of Ipswich, Suffolk.

The property is close to the coast providing a great area for walking, sailing, cycling and generally enjoying the beautiful Suffolk countryside.

The current houseman is sadly retiring after 24 happy years, making this a highly recommended position.

The successful person will be offered a one bedroom cottage in the grounds and a salary in exchange for working part time.

The Houseman will be required to work 15 hours a week over 5 days – usually with Sunday and Monday as days off.

The Position:

• Mowing the lawn using a large ride on mower
• Care of 4 Alpacas
• Care when required of a 3 month old puppy
• Pool Maintenance
• Security and Caretaking
• Watering plants in the house and greenhouse
• Liaising with tradesmen and deliveries
• Keeping the terrace tidy
• Emptying bins
• Checking the heating oil level
• Changing light bulbs
• Errands, such as buying newspapers and other items
• Occasional driving

The Person:

• Reliable, trustworthy, discreet and really nice to have around
• Polite and personable
• Will have previously worked within a private household, as a houseman, butler or similar
• Will have good maintenance experience – inside and outside
• Will have a full UK driving licence
• Will be animal friendly and preferably experienced with Alpacas and dogs
• Will possess good gardening skills and have large garden machinery experience
• Will be comfortable working on a ladder to clean gutters etc.
