A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Houseman to join a small team who take care of this fabulous country house located close to the coast in East Anglia.

The property is close to the coast providing a great area for walking and generally enjoying the beautiful Suffolk countryside.

Someone who loves dogs would be perfect to continue the family dog’s training and adventures.

The previous houseman retired after 24 happy years, making this a highly recommended position.

The successful person will be offered a one bedroom cottage in the grounds and a salary in exchange for working part time.

This position will be best suited to someone mature and looking to settle into a long term role

The Position:

• Security and Caretaking 24/7 for alarm purposes
• Checking the heating oil level and making sure heating on when family return to the house.
• Heated pool maintenance
• Daily care of the family dog
• Feeding 4 Alpacas on a daily basis
• Watering plants in the house, greenhouse and conservatory
• Helping in the garden on occasions, keeping terraces, paths and driveway clean and tidy
• Liaising with tradesmen, deliveries and expected visitors
• Emptying bins
• Changing light bulbs
• Errands, such as buying newspapers and other items
• Occasional local driving – station etc

The Person:

• Reliable, trustworthy, discreet and really nice to have around
• Polite and personable
• Will have previously worked within a private household, as a houseman, butler or similar
• Will have good maintenance experience – inside and outside
• Will have a full UK driving licence
• Will be animal friendly and have experience with dogs

A stand alone, one bedroom cottage and all utilities will be provided as well as a salary between £18,000 and £20,000 depending on experience.
