Full time experienced and knowledgeable Garden / Estate Manager required for a beautiful and well established 10 acre, private garden near Ingatestone, Essex. The current gardener has been working on the estate for 10 years and is now retiring.

This is a great opportunity for someone with horticulture experience.

Hours:

  • 8am to 4 pm including 1 hour for tea/lunch break
  • Monday – Friday
  • 4 week holiday entitlement
  • Day courses for skills can be arranged at Writtle college
  • Training can be given for use of machinery

Responsibilities:

  • Working with existing management to maintain estate properties to include:
  • Mainly at two locations ( 4/1 day split ) with some offsite management at the principals business unit estate max 30 minute journey from base (truck provided)
  • Plant, cultivate, and maintain flowers, plants, trees, and shrubs
  • Prune and trim plants to ensure healthy growth and appearance
  • Apply fertilisers and pesticides as needed
  • Monitor and control weeds in garden beds
  • Landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, and mulching
  • Operate power tools and gardening machinery including ride on mowers and compact tractors and all hand tools to perform various gardening tasks
  • Maintain 4 acres of paddocks
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of garden, driveway, equipment and tools
  • Fence maintenance

The Person:

  • Previous experience in garden maintenance
  • Knowledge of plant care techniques, including watering, fertilising and pruning and hedge cutting and plan propagation
  • Familiarity with operating power tools and hand tools used in gardening – Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and to work with other part time employees
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to work alone and with others
  • Ideally PA1/PA6A/PA4s for pesticide application and fertiliser use but training can be given

Job Type:

  • Full-time
  • Salary: £30-35,000 per year depending on experience.
  • Annual discretionary bonus. Use of company single cab truck
