Enthusiastic, capable gardener required to help breathe life into this beautiful historic garden of a significant country house based near Ipswich, Suffolk.

The garden consists of a walled garden, a cutting garden, ornamental trees, herbaceous borders, lawn and leisure areas totalling around 4 acres.

We are looking for someone with excellent plant knowledge who can solely maintain and develop the planted areas of the garden or someone who would be happy to have a varied role to include grass and hedge cutting with good plant knowledge.

Ideally the hours will be 24 per week over 3 days per week , however the family would consider offering a full time position if required.   Accommodation could be available for the right person.

The person:

• Someone enthusiastic, passionate and knowledgeable
• Excellent horticultural knowledge and experience of historic gardens would be desirable
• Hard working, loyal and trustworthy
• Happy to work with the owners of the property to breathe life back into this beautiful garden
• Car driver with own transport
• Physically fit as the job can involve lifting etc.

The Position:

• Maintaining the mature gardens, trees and borders
• Re-planting of the garden where necessary
• Greenhouse work
• Hedge and lawn cutting (If dual role is to be considered)
• Researching and planting of the historic garden to restore it back to it’s former glory!
