Experienced Wardrobe Co-ordinator required to join a small, busy team within a large country home in rural Gloucestershire, for the female principal.
This is a part time position and the hours will be 20 per week, ideally over 4 days – to be agreed, however flexibility required to cover changing schedules on occasions.
As Wardrobe Co-ordinator in the private household, you will be responsible for the care, maintenance and preparation of the principal’s wardrobe and for the cleanliness of their private rooms. A flexible approach to working hours is essential due to the nature of the principal’s busy itinerary but we are open to discussion on the exact working pattern.
Key Responsibilities include:
Wardrobe:
- Have primary responsibility for the care of the female principal’s wardrobe at the country home, including packing, undertaking cleaning, repairs and alterations as required.
- Take direction on outfit choices and undertaking personal dressing duties as required, including pressing all clothing, preparing garments, shoes, bags, hats for specific functions, preparing and laying out clothes daily.
- Provide styling suggestions relevant to the nature of events.
- Undertake simple repairs and alterations, co-ordinating dry-cleaning or advanced alterations as required.
- Co-ordinate wardrobe and luggage for travel as required.
- Maintain records of the condition of pieces ensuring everything is stored and repaired as needed.
- Undertake personal shopping and clothing purchases when necessary.
- Work flexibly, undertaking any other duties commensurate with the role and as required to ensure that a high standard of service is maintained.
- Housekeeping:
- Responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the bedroom, bathroom, and wardrobe area.
- Undertake a hands-on role with general cleaning duties as required including dusting, hoovering and restocking of bathroom supplies
- Responsible for the care, laundry and ironing of personal items About you: Essential:
- Demonstrable experience of working with clothing or housekeeping to a high standard.
- Possess strong practical skills, including basic dressmaking, alterations and the ability to both machine and hand sew to a high standard.
- Have awareness of the care and maintenance of specialised fabrics.
Requirements:
- A proven ability to set and maintain high standards within a work environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail, highly organised and able to work to strict deadlines .
- Effective working in a small team, flexible, conscientious and hardworking
- Have good self-presentation, punctuality and strong inter-personal skills; able to communicate with people at all levels with confidence and clarity
- High levels of emotional maturity, resilience and discretion
- Comfortable using initiative and anticipating needs in order to deliver exceptional service.
- A hands-on approach to work with an ability and willingness to learn, take direction.
- If required, prepared to travel and work flexible hours as needed.
- Possess a good level of digital literacy and able maintain accurate records
- Hold a full clean UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Previous experience as a dresser, providing a personal service or within a private domestic setting is beneficial.
- Willingness to develop knowledge of different orders of dress.
