Farm worker / game keeper required for dedicated team with exceptional attention to detail. This would suit someone who is looking to work and live on a lovely private country farm who is willing to muck in.

The Position:

The overall estate maintenance and game keeping role. The key tasks will be general estate maintenance, ground care, pest control, rearing of game birds and working with all aspects of the shoot.

The General farm hand / estate work:

  • Carry out general estate maintenance to ensure everywhere is clean and tidy all year round
  • Help with cattle from time to time
  • Mend fencing
  • Tractor driving
  • Pest Control
  • Muck in and assist with day-to-day jobs as and when necessary

The Game farm role:

  • Fill a role within an existing game rearing team
  • Husbandry of pheasants and partridges from day old
  • Responsibility for own units and batches to rear through the season
  • Maintenance & cleaning of equipment
  • Deliver game birds to clients / farms and estates

The Game Keeping:

  • Experience depending, this can be a single handed or an underkeeper role
  • Vermin Control
  • Conservation work
  • Deer Management

The Person:

  • Self-motivated with high work and personal standards
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Have a team work ethic and willingness to undertake training when necessary
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours (longer during the summer months)
  • Some experience as under keeper at a minimum is preferred
  • Some conservation experience (preferred)
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Have a Firearms and Shotgun Licence (preferred)
  • Should preferably have the relevant training accreditation for ATV/ Quad, Chainsaw, Pesticide and First Aid
  • Will have gamekeeping experience with pheasant and partridge, deer management and predator control
  • A passion for field sports and the countryside is essential
