We are looking for a wonderful and experienced, full time Family Assistant who can take care of weekly gardening, housekeeping and basic daily horse care.

This is a lovely varied role on a beautiful, private, 25 acre mini estate near Oundle.

Hours: Approximately 35-40 hours per week

  • 9am -4pm, Monday – Friday and every Saturday morning (between 1.5-3 hours)

Gardening (main element of the role):

  • Maintaining 3 acres of gardens/orchard, 5 acres of woodland and 20 acres of paddocks which are beautifully laid out and structured
  • Weeding, pruning and cutting back
  • Looking after the green house
  • Digging, planting
  • Use of chainsaw (employer happy to put the successful person through the course)
  • Keeping flower beds, pots and patio clean, tidy and weed free
  • Assisting the part time gardener who cuts the lawn and acts as the estate’s handy person
  • Muck in were needed

Housekeeping (approximately 10 hours a week):

  • General cleaning of the families 4 bedroom house
  • All laundry
  • Making beds
  • Dusting/polishing, hoovering, mopping
  • Deep cleans as and when necessary
  • Thorough, high standard of cleaning / housekeeping

Groom (mornings and afternoons, approximately 1-1.5 hours each day total)

  • Care of 2 horses
  • Turning horses in and out of the field
  • Mucking out
  • Poo picking (daily)
  • Dealing with basic lameness and illness
  • Grooming and washing
  • Maintaining yard, which is immaculate and well laid out
  • Cleaning tack
  • Keeping yard tidy and clean all year round
  • Harrowing the arena weekly or fortnightly as and when necessary
  • This is a non-riding position
  • The person MUST be experienced with horses

This position would suit a very organised and flexible person that enjoys doing a variety of tasks each day mucking in where needed.

The person must be an animal lover as the estate have dogs, horses , ducks etc. They must also have a clean driving licence and be a non-smoker.

Gardening experience is crucial along with firm housekeeping and basic equine knowledge. The role can be split if two local people hold the right skillsets.

This is a full time, permanent position.

The person would Ideally be self employed although there is a possibility of employment.

This is a live out position and would therefore suit someone local to the area.

20 days  holiday, plus bank holidays

Occasional house and pet sitting to be agreed well in advance.
