Full Time Experienced Groom – Tring , Hertfordshire – REF 898 NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Full Time Groom required for small private competition yard with a maximum of 3 event horses and 1 companion pony located in Tring Hertfordshire.

The ideal person will have previously held a Head Groom position preferably within a competition yard. Someone who can take sole charge and manage the yard to a very high standard, offering the very best care possible for the horses.

The job:-

• High standard care of 3 competition horses and 1 companion pony
• Excellent turn out skills ( plaiting, clipping, trimming etc)
• Working well with one other staff member
• Preparing and Driving lorry to competitions and training with rider
• Keeping the yard clean and tidy at all times
• Keeping tack and all equipment in good clean order
• Bandaging for stable and travel
• Understand and manage feeding and exercise regimes
• Riding fit horses ( hacking only)
• Having horses ready for the rider and trainers
• Liaising with Vets, Farrier, feed suppliers etc)
• 5 day week with Christmas ad Boxing Day off.

The Person will:-

• Be reliable, enthusiastic with an easy to get along with personality
• Have previous similar experience with fully checkable references
• Possess Yard management skills and the ability to work with others and alone
• Understand the demands of competition days and be happy to accompany the rider
• Have excellent communication skills
• Be happy to work weekends and travel to events
• Be able to turn horses out for competition beautifully
• Definitely be able to clip, plait etc
• Be able to spot illness and injury and contact the relevant people asap.
• Have a genuine love of working with competition horses and being part of a family team.
• HGV driver
