Full Time experienced Chef required for leading co-educational preparatory school for children aged 3-13 years.

Working Hours    –     47.6 weeks including 28 days holiday including Bank Holidays

Term Time plus 4 weeks (38 weeks): 2 week rota:

Week 1: 11.30-19.30  – Monday to Friday

Week 2: 11.30-19.30 – Monday to Thursday

07.30-15.30 Saturday

10.30 -18.30 Sunday

19 Kitchen cleaning days out of term time

09.45 – 14.15

The Job:

  • Assisting Catering Manager with cost effective planning, preparation, cooking and service of excellent quality meals ensuring the highest standards of food hygiene.
  • Stock control and purchasing
  • Ensuring kitchen equipment always clean and safe
  • Being hands on assisting kitchen staff
  • Assist with duty rotas and daily routines
  • Health and Safety
  • Menu planning with Catering Manager to provide healthy eating
  • Supporting school functions
  • Promoting the catering service
  • Working towards and supporting the school vision and current school objectives outlined in the School Development Plan

The Person:

  • Excellent Cooking skills
  • Able to work within a team and also use own initiative
  • Able t0 train and manage the workload of others
  • Will have excellent interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to relate to young people, parents and colleagues
  • Will be highly organised with excellent time management with the ability to prioritise own workload and able to work to deadlines
  • Will have basic IT skills sufficient to maintain records, send and receive messages e.g. working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and Outlook email
  • Must have substantial experience of cooking on a large scale and function catering
  • Must have a Catering Qualification NVQ level 2 and  a food hygiene certificate
  • Will have knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements and food hygeine
  • Will have knowledge of menu planning and costing, nutrition and healthy eating
  • Will understand child protection issues
  • Will have knowledge of the principles of marketing

Positivity and self motivation along with a ‘can do’ attitude are all essential for this role.
