Assistant Stud Hand – Newmarket & Thurlow / Suffolk REF 1070

Full time, Assistant Stud Hand required for private breeding and pre-training yard covering two sites located in Thurlow and Newmarket.

This is a full-time position, but for the right person the hours can be reduced slightly if desired.

Shared accommodation available in Newmarket if needed and any travelling costs to Thurlow will be covered.

This would suit someone who is happy to work alone and as part of a team. The position will involve:

• Assisting the Head Groom
• Splitting time between Thurlow yard and Newmarket
• Checking retired ponies and mares in paddock
• Mucking out a maximum of 8 boxes
• Turning horses out/bringing in
• Feeding, checking waters etc
• Paddock maintenance
• Yard maintenance
• Assisting Vets, Farriers and Dentists
• Handling broodmares
• Handling foals
• Handling stallions
• Possible sales prep

The person will need to be physically fit and healthy. Have a good knowledge and understanding of the breeding / equine industry. Be happy working alone at times and be a good team player.

This will be a varied position and will suit someone that likes to get stuck in and help out where necessary.
