Head Gardener – Witham, Essex REF 1243

Full Time RHS qualified Head Gardener required for private Estate located close to Witham and approx 11 miles North of Chelmsford.

We are looking for someone very experienced who can manage these beautiful gardens and restore them to their former splendour where needed.

This is a Monday to Friday position and the hours will be 8.30am to 4.30pm

The gardens comprise a one acre victorian walled garden and a further two acres of lawns and beds around the stately home.

The current gardener is sadly retiring after 4 years, so the incoming Head Gardener will be required to continue with the refurbishment of the walled garden and restoration of various flower beds.

This would suit a passionate gardener who would relish the opportunity of a blank canvas to bring the walled garden back to it’s former glory.

The gardens are private but it is hoped that they can be opened up a few days a year for charity events.

Car driver essential.

Other requirements of the position are:-

• 2 acres of lawn care using large garden machinery
• hedge cutting – no topiary
• strimming
• maintaining the cutting garden
• maintaining the rose garden
• vegetable growing
• managing 2 large greenhouses
• maintaining fruit cages
• keeping the swimming pool area clean and tidy and tending the exotic plants within
• cutting the lawn of the grass tennis court

A generous salary will be offered to the successful person who can provide fully checkable references.
