Full Time experienced Livestock/Farm Manager required for large private Estate near Newmarket Suffolk.

The ideal person will understand the Estate’s desire to maintain and care for the land and livestock in an environmentally friendly manner with game and nature conservation of great importance.
The ability to work with more conventional methods of production and land husbandry also essential.

The job of the Livestock/Farm Manager will include :-

Caring for all the sheep to include:-

• Breeding, rearing and finishing progeny, health management inc bio-security, housing, sales and purchase of sheep, achieving marketing objectives as set by management team, organise and manage sub-contractors( sheering, foot trimming etc) keep accurate records(DEFRA, Health and Safety, COSHH etc)

All tasks related to grassland management to include:-

• Soil fertility and fertiliser requirements, grazing management, conservation of winter feed, keeping field records, maintain fencing and other field boundaries, monitor and maintain drainage and soil conditions.

Other Estate Management Duties to include as an example although not exclusively:-
• Maintaining records and areas included in the Estates environmental schemes, inc ELS,HLS,CS), Woodland maintenance, management, chainsaw work, tree guard removal, hedge and verge cutting, fencing, track and road maintenance, grass cutting, organising part time staff, general Estate maintenance, assisting Gamekeeper, tractor driving, keeping farmyard buildings tidy and in good repair, cleaning farm vehicles, occasional dog walking, ditch work and occasional work around the wider Estate.

The successful person must be proficient in all the tasks above , reliable and work well as part of team. Must possess good IT skills with accurate record keeping.
The ability to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and other staff.
