Full Time Groom- Ipswich, Suffolk Ref JF1395

Full Time experienced groom required for private yard with 8 ponies/horses located approx 8 miles north of Ipswich. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who would enjoy working on a smaller family yard in a lovely environment with fabulous facilities.

5 days a week- 8 hours a day. Excellent salary offered which will include 28 days holiday. Split shifts required 2 days a week.

The successful person must  be confident handling horses on the ground, including the energetic and young stock who can be spooky.

Someone who is passionate about delivering the highest equine welfare standards.

The Position:-

• All yard work-mucking out, hays, waters etc
• Poo picking the fields and regular checking and cleaning of water troughs
• Keeping yard swept and clean
• Turning horses out and bringing in from the field, rug changing, picking out hooves etc
• Regular bathing and grooming of each horse
• Rehab schooling and educational development of young horses
• Exercising horses
• Liaising with farrier and vet to schedule checks, vaccinations etc
• Management of worming programme
• Maintenance of the manege , jumps, poles and dressage boards

The Person:-

• Reliable, punctual, enthusiastic and committed to providing the best horse care possible
• Confident and experienced handling a variety of horses on the ground and ridden
• Will have at least 5 years groom experience with full responsibility of equine welfare at a yard or stud
• Will have BHS stage 3 or equivalent qualifications in equine welfare, stable management, equine nutrition and grooming
• Ideally have an equine coaching qualification
• Will have excellent time management and communication skills .
• Able to develop equine; feeding/nutritional and exercise programmes

This is a live out position so someone within half an hour would be preferred.

Car driver essential due to the location.
