Role
Private Household & Estate / Estate Worker / Household Animal Care / Farm & Equestrian / Office / Professional & Other

Our client operates a professional, well-respected, council-licensed Australian Labradoodle breeding programme and has over 15 years’ experience in the business. With the exception of two dogs that live permanently with the owners in their home, their fully health screened breeding dogs live with local guardian families (not in kennels!) and return for breeding and raising their puppies, for which there are brand-new purpose-built facilities.

An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic dog lover, this is a full-time, permanent, live-in position with significant responsibility and requires a diligent, confident individual with a can-do attitude and excellent attention to detail. Management experience is essential and experience working with dogs professionally is beneficial but not essential, so this role would suit someone looking to take their career in a new direction.

The successful candidate will be required to live on-site in a very comfortable 2-3 bedroom home set on a large 3-acre plot in the Scottish countryside between Edinburgh and Glasgow. The bungalow is about 15 years old and features:

  • Large open plan kitchen/diner with wood burning stove
  • Large living room with wood burning stove
  • Master bedroom with en-suite
  • Additional bedrooms
  • Main bathroom
  • Utility room
  • WC
  • Double glazing
  • Central heating
  • Furnished
  • Enclosed private garden

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all the dogs and puppies get 5-star care around the clock. Responsibilities are wide ranging and include all aspects of dog and puppy care, liaising with clients, arranging property maintenance and managing a small team.

  • Cleaning
  • Feeding
  • Exercising
  • Socialising
  • Training
  • Grooming
  • Supervising breedings & births
  • Caring for newborns
  • Monitoring general health & administering basic medical care
  • Transporting dogs & puppies to the vet
  • Record keeping
  • Photography
  • Liaising with clients
  • Property maintenance (grass cutting etc)
  • Arranging repairs

Full on-the-job training will be provided, although the successful candidate will have a natural tendency to lead and take ownership.

5 day working week, but some light duties are required on 2 rest days (i.e. letting a couple of dogs out to the toilet first and last thing / feeding breakfast & supper to a couple of dogs).

Expected to sleep on site every night unless prior arrangement made for this to be covered by another team member.

A full, UK driving license is essential, and a car is preferred (business mileage compensated).

Start date: October – early November 2023.
