Key Responsibilities:

You’ll be working as part of the estate team, responsible for the Estate jobs deemed suitable by Estate Manager.

These could include: –

  • Cutting all deciduous plantations on Kioti Tractor and Wessex Flail.
  • Watering, use of a 3000L water bowser and vineyard tractor. Watering newly planted hedges across the whole estate.

  • Spraying parkland thistles and nettles using a Polaris Agri Quad.

We are looking for someone who can assist a young rider who is already successful in the USA.

The ideal person will be able manage the small yard ( max 2 horses ) to a very high standard with the welfare of the horses at the forefront.

Someone with a passion for eventing, who can provide support, advice and encouragement to the young rider.

The rider is under the guidance of a young 5* event rider, so the successful groom must be happy taking and following instructions as and when required.

A good competent rider is essential to hack the horses and also to carry out the fittening work whilst the rider is at school.

Travelling to events during the season will be part of this role, so weekends will be required and knowledge of what is required during the day is essential. Preparing the lorry for the journeys, including making sure all tack, clothing etc are packed,  preparing the horse ( bandaging, plaiting etc), tacking up and studding up once at the event, lunging and helping rider on board. Checking timings of disciplines and making sure horse and rider arrive on time. Cooling the horses off and driving them safely home.

Driving to events, training and other outings will all be part of this role.

The Housekeeper will:

We are looking for a real Mary Poppins to join this lovely family of 5 in London. They have 2,  11 week old twins and a 4 year old who starts school in September.

The Role –

The Head Shepherd will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our 850- ewe sheep enterprise. The role will include undertaking daily sheep checks, as well as lambing, tailing, vaccinating, tagging and weaning.  Contract crutching/shearing and scanning made available.

The position involves working closely with the owner to organise grazing and labour requirements on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.

The sheep are outside all year round, so the applicant must be used to working with Rappa (or equivalent) temporary fencing. Grazing consists of summer catch crops, winter cover crops and herbal leys. These grazing platforms are shared with the cattle enterprise, and the shepherd would be expected to work closely with the owner to discuss the grazing plan for both enterprises.

Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to plan their own workload and highlight when additional labour is required. Working closely with the wider farm team will also be an important part of this role.

Head Housekeeper required for beautiful country estate located not too far from Aviemore and Pitlochry.

We are looking for a very experienced housekeeper who can manage the estate properties to the highest standard.

The properties comprise the main lodge, chapel and amazing holiday rental properties around the estate. These will always be in a state of preparation for occupancy, allowing for family/guests to arrive at short notice.

The housekeeper’s role is to manage, supervise, train and work alongside the housekeeping staff, ensuring correct standards and practices are maintained. There are currently 3 people in the team, however between August and October seasonal housekeepers and butlers are brought in to assist. The successful person will be able to develop a well-ordered routine for daily tasks during family visits, and an in-depth program to include specific tasks when the house(s) are unoccupied. Keeping the teams busy and motivated at all times, some days/weeks will be extremely busy and other times less so during periods of non-occupation.

This is a very practical, hands on position, definitely not for someone who wants to lead from a desk!

The hours will be           Off Peak.         Monday to Friday.         08.30 to 16.30

                                       Peak Times.    Whatever hours are required to fulfil the criteria of the position.            Weekends will always be worked during peak times

A varied position for an experienced Head Gardener/Senior gardener with a broad horticultural knowledge and experience in managing staff, contractors and seasonal demands of a large garden.

The garden comprises of 25 acres of historical parkland with gardens laid out 20 years ago. There are peony gardens, formal rose gardens, mixed herbaceous and shrub borders, formal lawns and hedges, extensive herbaceous borders, cut flower and vegetable garden, polytunnel and greenhouse. Large collection of bulbs planted throughout the historic landscape, with Galanthus, Camassias and Narcissus. A busy garden which has a various aspect to it, although only 20 years old, the garden is now reaching its maturity, and the garden continues to develop and evolve. Working with the Family, alongside the small team and other members of staff on the estate the garden forms a wonderful setting for the private home at its centre.

A good knowledge of compact tractors, implements, pedestrian mowers and handheld machinery is desirable in this role, PA1 and PA6 spray certification is essential. Knowledge of automatic irrigation systems and cylinder mowers would be advantageous, as would chainsaw certification, although contractors are used for larger tree works. Propagation and cultivation of ornamental and edible plants as well as the knowledge of division of herbaceous perennials and pruning of a wide array of shrubs and trees is needed.

The candidate will need an eye for detail and the will to constantly improve the garden in its next chapter for a passionate horticultural family. This role would suit someone who is looking to care for and nurture this special garden, developing the garden further to carry on the forward trajectory of it.

This is a live in position and a large fully furnished, warm lodge will be offered, allowing for a short walk across the garden to work each day. The lodge has a fully fitted kitchen, 55” TV and super speed broadband. It is situated in mature grounds with an abundance of trees and greenery and is very quiet and private. The family have 2 large dogs and 3 cats so an animal lover is essential.

The family have 3 grown up children who live away but come to stay occasionally, so the house is very quiet most of the time.

The usual day will start at 06.45 for one person and 9am for the other (when 2 housekeepers are on) and finish 6/7pm(later when the family give occasional dinner parties).

Within these hours there will be a 3 hour break, allowing for time away from the house. There will be periodic weekends required with time off in lieu.

The location lends itself to outdoor activities such as coastal walking, sea swimming, running, cycling etc.

Potentially coming to housekeep and assist the chef in the family’s annual holiday on a Scottish Estate for two weeks.

Part Time Groom / Rider- Newmarket- RR1906

Experienced, local and friendly family groom / rider required, on a part time basis for a small, beautiful private family yard situated on the outskirts of Newmarket, Suffolk.

The person must be confident hacking, cantering,  basic schooling and have experience as a private groom previously.

The family only have 1 horse and 1 pony in at the moment but will be adding 1, possibly 2 more at Easter.

Days required:

  • 2 full days a week (ideally Mondays and Wednesdays)
  • Plus help at the weekend (ideally 1 or 2 in 4) this is to allow the current groom some time off over the weekend

Estate Stockperson Ranger – Newmarket, Suffolk. REF JF1905

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new staff member to join this wonderful Estate located approx. 9 miles SE of Newmarket.

The Estate is in the most wonderful location and provides an amazing environment for all the livestock amidst the vast areas of natural pasture and woodland.

You will be joining an established team who all work to high standards, ensuring the best possible welfare of livestock and exceptional  maintenance of the land.

This is a full time position which will include weekends on a rota basis.

  1. Livestock Management
  • Provide daily care for 30 head of Wagyu cattle with the view of expanding the herd over the next three years whilst producing high quality grade beef.
  • Provide daily care for 80 breeding ewes (Exlana, Suffolk and Southdowns) and Pedigree Tamworth pigs.
  • Engage with breeding programs, lambing, and calving operations with a focus on welfare and productivity.
  • Monitor pasture health and rotation schedules to ensure optimal grazing conditions and animal welbeing.
  • Conduct routine health checks in line with our Healthy Herd Scheme, administer treatments and vaccinations as required.
  • Maintain accurate livestock records for births, movements and medical treatments.
  1. Renerative Farming Practises and Conservation Grazing
  • Implement and promote regenerative farming techniques, such as rotational grazing and bale grazing.
  • Collaborate with the Estate Team and game keeper to align farming practises with biodiversity enhancement and the shooting interest on the estate. 
  1. Infrastructure and Equipment Management
  • Maintain fencing (electric and permanent), and water systems to ensure the safety and comfort of livestock
  • Carry out maintenance and safe operation of farming equipment and vehicles.
  • Identify and report any repairs or upgrades needed across the estate’s agricultural infrastructure.
  1. Collaboration and Estate Support
  • Work closely with the Estate Team to align agricultural and environmental goals.
  • Participate in estate-wide projects, such as habitat restoration or creation as required. 
  1. Health & Safety
  • Ensuring all tasks are conducted safely, adhering to estate guidelines and legal requirements
  • Reporting any hazards or incidents promptly.

Requirements

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in livestock management with cattle and sheep.
  • Knowledge of regenerative farming principles and willingness to apply them.
  • Strong animal welfare ethic and attention to livestock health and behaviour.
  • Practical skills in fencing, machinery maintenance and general
  • Car driver with own transport

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in pasture fed farming systems as well as finishing systems with Total Mixed Ration diets.
  • Relevant agricultural qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Diploma in Agriculture or equivalent).
  • Tractor driving
  • Chainsaw CS30/31 certification

Conservation Estate Worker, North Norfolk – REF JB1904

A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dedicated Conservation Estate Worker located on a Private North Norfolk Estate.

This is a full-time position and a multi skilled role which will involve carrying out general conservation duties alongside the already developed shoot, also maintaining the Estate and its natural surroundings to a very high standard.

We are looking for a self-motivated, trustworthy and conscientious person. Someone who is experienced in Conservation, Gamekeeping and General Estate Work would be beneficial. The role would suit someone who is happy to work on their own or as part of a team, managing their workload effectively, whilst also being able to take instruction.

The main purpose is to:

  • Take care of the day-to-day maintenance and general enhancement of the Estate.
  • Carry out General Conservation and Gamekeeping related duties/tasks

Hours:

  • Full time. Minimum 40hrs a week. Weekend work will be required when necessary.

The duties will include but not limited to:

  • General Conservation & possible Gamekeeping related tasks on the estate, also relating to the shooting infrastructure
  • Assisting with rearing game birds if required in the busy periods
