Full Time Farm Poultry Assistant (Henhouse Assistant) required to join a small friendly team working with six flocks of  high welfare laying hens.  The farm is nestled in the heart of East Anglia and has been thriving for nearly 100 years across four generations and continues to grow. The farm houses 44,000 high welfare, free-range hens, providing a continuous supply of premium eggs to their dedicated, on farm, egg packing facility. We are looking for someone who can work within the team providing care and welfare to the hens, collecting eggs and maintaining the farm and henhouse to a clean and organised facility.

Responsible for the smooth running of all aspects of the Estate Office and some administrative aspects of The Main Lodge and assist with practical projects relating to property refurbishment. Organise preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs.

The role is full time 9am-5pm Monday to Friday primarily office based but some home working can be considered.

The position requires a flexible approach to work and hours worked to ensure deadlines are met especially at busy period, being August to November. This could mean working an occasional weekend and/or evening.

The small office team consists of the Estate Manager, a full time Bookkeeper & HR Administrator, a part time Land and Estates Administrator and the Office Manager. These members of staff report to the Estate Manager but manage office tasks between themselves.  The office team will cover for each other’s holidays and when there are significant changes in anyone’s workload.

The Role

The Shoot

  • Maintain accurate records of Game Bags for the grouse and pheasant shoots.

The Lodge / Gardens

  • Support up to date recording of the Lodge inventories in conjunction with the Head Butler and Head Housekeeper.
  • Support with service and maintenance of Lodge plant and machinery if required.

Property Maintenance & Repairs

  • Arrange routine servicing of household equipment, e.g. central heating boilers, water treatment plants, alarms, tools.
  • Arrange repair or replacement of the above.
  • Assist with renovating or refurbishment of domestic properties e.g. redecoration of windows, rooms, kitchens, bathrooms.
  • Help with interiors and furnishing projects e.g. researching and sourcing various fixtures and fittings and suppliers.

Health & Safety

  • Maintain PPE register and other Health & Safety documentation and resources, E.g. Employee manuals and updates, first aid boxes, defibrillators.

  • Keep other staff aware of Estate Health and Safety procedures and updates.

Other Duties

  • Vehicle Licence/tax/MOT renewals.

Office Administration

  • Assist with keeping the Estate diary and shoot calendar etc up to date, advise colleagues of events when necessary.
  • Ensure a timely response to all telephone calls, mail and emails received into the office.
  • Attend to all visitor enquiries.
  • All typing and report production.
  • Help produce the Quarterly and End of Season reports.
  • Assist with the cleanliness and tidy presentation of the Estate office and storage buildings.
  • Maintain supplies of stationary and other goods used in the office.
  • Foster a collaborative working approach, with internal and external staff.

This is a full time position which will include weekends on a rota basis.

  1. Livestock Management
  • Provide daily care for 30 head of Wagyu cattle with the view of expanding the herd over the next three years whilst producing high quality grade beef.
  • Provide daily care for 80 breeding ewes (Exlana, Suffolk and Southdowns) and Pedigree Tamworth pigs.
  • Engage with breeding programs, lambing, and calving operations with a focus on welfare and productivity.
  • Monitor pasture health and rotation schedules to ensure optimal grazing conditions and animal welbeing.
  • Conduct routine health checks in line with our Healthy Herd Scheme, administer treatments and vaccinations as required.
  • Maintain accurate livestock records for births, movements and medical treatments.

  • Implement and promote regenerative farming techniques, such as rotational grazing and bale grazing.

The ideal person will be fairly local and able to come in and stay for 2 hours to enable the family to carry out tasks with their horses. The daughter competes with her event horses and if the successful person has an interest in this area and would like to drive the gentleman to watch her take part that would be fantastic.

Hours will be 8.30am to 10.30am 5 days a week.

Personal care will be involved to assist with washing and dressing.

Experienced Exercise Rider required for beautiful, top class training and rehabilitation centre on the outskirts of Thetford, Norfolk.

Hours:

Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 4.30pm and working alternate weekends with a day off in lieu as compensatory rest. The position would come with company accommodation.

Tasks and Activities:

  • Riding racehorses returning from injury or weakness upto and including cantering exercise, for maximum of 2 to 3 lots per day.
  • Assisting in the rehabilitation of horses through the correct and approved procedures including treadmill, water treadmill, swimming, assisting farriers and veterinary surgeons as required.
  • Assisting with the distribution of food and bedding and the disposal of soiled and dirty materials.
  • Carrying out routine duties including mucking out, feeding and grooming horses within the stud.
  • Travelling horses to exercise or move to other locations as directed.
  • Preparation of horses for sales and attending bloodstock sales as necessary.
  • Conducting all tasks in accordance with and observing the health and safety policies including the correct use of equipment and personal protective equipment.
  • Any other ad hoc tasks as required.

  • Proven experience and competency at riding thoroughbreds. (essential)

We are looking for an experienced and energetic nanny to join a busy, family household, to help look after their lovely four-year old son, and to help with some household chores.

This is a long-term role which is focused on engaging with the little boy and arranging fun activities during 3 days per week during the school holidays, and two or three afternoons each week during term time (but term time hours can be bolstered with additional housekeeping, alongside the families part-time housekeeper, if requested).  There is quite a lot of flexibility surrounding hours for the right person, so please get in touch if you think that you might be interested and be a good fit.
