Key Responsibilities:

Couple required for large 18th Century classical Georgian country house located between Inveraray and Lochgilphead, Argyll and Bute. Easy access to nearest village by car to shops, schools and other facilities. The house sits in 50 acres of grounds and has been completely refurbished.

The ideal couple will be experienced with managing the housekeeping and grounds maintenance of a large property and perhaps be looking to step down from a full time role.

The couple position will be offered a 3 bedroom property and a small annual salary. A family would be welcome and a well behaved dog would be considered. The property and garden will be maintained by the new staff members.

Responsibilities:

Housekeeping (estimate of 1 day a week, extra hours by agreement)

We are looking for someone who can assist a young rider who is already successful in the USA.

The ideal person will be able manage the small yard ( max 2 horses ) to a very high standard with the welfare of the horses at the forefront.

Someone with a passion for eventing, who can provide support, advice and encouragement to the young rider.

The rider is under the guidance of a young 5* event rider, so the successful groom must be happy taking and following instructions as and when required.

A good competent rider is essential to hack the horses and also to carry out the fittening work whilst the rider is at school.

Travelling to events during the season will be part of this role, so weekends will be required and knowledge of what is required during the day is essential. Preparing the lorry for the journeys, including making sure all tack, clothing etc are packed, preparing the horse ( bandaging, plaiting etc), tacking up and studding up once at the event, lunging and helping rider on board. Checking timings of disciplines and making sure horse and rider arrive on time. Cooling the horses off and driving them safely home.

Mum will be around initially so the role will involve generally mucking in and helping out where needed, whether that be sole charge of the twins whilst mum and the eldest go to the park or vice versa, helping with breakfast, feeding all babies, helping to get everyone ready for school/school run including packed lunch. The Role –

The Head Shepherd will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our 850- ewe sheep enterprise. The role will include undertaking daily sheep checks, as well as lambing, tailing, vaccinating, tagging and weaning. Contract crutching/shearing and scanning made available.

The position involves working closely with the owner to organise grazing and labour requirements on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.

The sheep are outside all year round, so the applicant must be used to working with Rappa (or equivalent) temporary fencing. Grazing consists of summer catch crops, winter cover crops and herbal leys. These grazing platforms are shared with the cattle enterprise, and the shepherd would be expected to work closely with the owner to discuss the grazing plan for both enterprises.

Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to plan their own workload and highlight when additional labour is required. Working closely with the wider farm team will also be an important part of this role.

Head Housekeeper required for beautiful country estate located not too far from Aviemore and Pitlochry.

We are looking for a very experienced housekeeper who can manage the estate properties to the highest standard.

The properties comprise the main lodge, chapel and amazing holiday rental properties around the estate. These will always be in a state of preparation for occupancy, allowing for family/guests to arrive at short notice.

The housekeeper’s role is to manage, supervise, train and work alongside the housekeeping staff, ensuring correct standards and practices are maintained. There are currently 3 people in the team, however between August and October seasonal housekeepers and butlers are brought in to assist. Within these hours there will be a 3 hour break, allowing for time away from the house. There will be periodic weekends required with time off in lieu.

Hours:

Tasks and Activities:

Riding racehorses returning from injury or weakness upto and including cantering exercise, for maximum of 2 to 3 lots per day.

This would suit two highly organised and motivated people who take great pride in their work. The principals spend a significant amount of time working overseas so it is really important that the couple can confidently run things at home in their absence, dealing with all issues, big or small.

Estate Work responsibilities:

The main dates that they require help for at the moment are:

Full Time experienced Travelling Head Groom required for private eventing yard located between Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket (closer to Newmarket).

The rider who competes from Novice to 5*, nationally and internationally will require a groom who can work to a very high standard at home and when away at events. Someone with an background/interest in eventing would be preferred, however experience with dressage or show jumpers will also be considered as long as the successful person is willing and eager to learn the requirements. This is a fabulous opportunity for someone to be part of this successful young team.

This is a very hands on position and will include all working as a team on the yard, handling the competition horses on the ground and generally keeping the yard running efficiently, safely with great attention to the horses welfare.

There is self contained accommodation available and a competitive salary offered to the successful person who has previously worked with competition horses.

The Position:

All yard duties to a high standard
Clipping, plaiting, trimming etc for exceptional turnout
Handling a variety of fit horses on the ground
Preparing horses for the rider – tacking up etc
Lunging and long reining
Preparing the lorry for travel
Happy to follow instructions but also be able to use their own initiative
Looking out for injury and illness
Liaising with Vet, farrier, feed merchant etc
Making sure all supplies of feed, hay, supplements are kept fully stocked

The Person:

Reliable, enthusiastic with the best possible work ethic
A good team player with an easy to get along with personality
A car driver with own transport
HGV driver
Confident and capable handling horses on the ground-studding up at events, bandaging, cooling off etc.
Experienced with travelling horses in theUK and Europe
Experienced with lunging, long reining etc
Able to turn horses out to a high standard – clipping, plaiting etc
Able to work to the highest standard and really take a pride in their work
Genuinely love working with horses

Job description

An opportunity has arisen to join a diversified rural business with a focus on sustainable farming, hospitality, weddings, events, catering, natural capital and renewable energy, environmental management, and high end back to nature accommodation.

The position will oversee the estates, grounds and maintenance efforts across the group of business to include but not limited to the building, landscapes, vehicles, offices and custodial maintenance activities, to resolve problems directly or organising the swift resolution with third parties. Ensuring machinery is in good working order and preventative measures are in place and that the grounds are always immaculate with specific qualifications desirable/preferable.

In addition, objectives include effectively managing working patterns and logistics. They will be responsible for building, developing and managing a proactive team to meet deadlines and implement ideas with a problem-solving attitude.

The role includes the overseeing of and involvement in the coordination and execution of all such work and tasks.

The key function will be to maintain the high-quality appearance of the grounds throughout the year, ensuring the venue and accommodation are immaculate in appearance too. The duties of this pivotal role includes scheduling works in a timely fashion for execution and completion and responding to maintenance emergencies and all requests along with managing costs.

Always ensuring and monitoring safety procedures and efficiencies and providing such instruction to staff and contractors.

The role requires a problem-solving approach and resolution-based ethos with a positive demeanour and outlook.

Due to the nature of this role, the working days / hours are geared around the weather and the events, involving working on-call to meet a specified and defined rota system with 40 hours over 7 days per week and seasonal peaks due to the nature of the business.

The position is live-in and includes accommodation. The Estate is located approx 9 miles North of Woodbridge, Suffolk.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;

Possessing a high level of attention to detail and taking great pride in their work
Must have proven ability to work efficiently and effectively within a specified time and weather constraints
Relevant experience of grounds/gardening/estate maintenance preferential
A preference in having experience of using agricultural equipment including but not limited to tractors, mowers, hedge cutters, along with understanding of equipment up-keep
Have experience and an understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace and adopting Risk Assessments
Proven ability to effectively manage your own workload and supervise the work of others and prioritise workloads accordingly
Full clean driving licence
Proven ability to undertake maintenance works including basic plumbing and electrical work amongst other aspects
Aptitude to learn all operating systems

Preferred skills – useful but not essential:

Scissor lift use
Working at height
First aid certification
PAT testing training/certification
Chainsaw training/certification
Horticultural and gardening experience with (PA1, PA2, PA6, knapsack and meadow spraying desirable)
Awareness of air source heat pumps, irrigation and bore holes, generators

Live in, experienced Estate Worker who is a bit of a ‘Jack of all trades’ required for a lovely family near Norwich.

This role will suit someone who can turn their hand to most things ‘outside’ including:

General property maintenance and tidiness
Tractor driving
Work in woods clearing trees
Animal care (dogs and horses)
Clearing gutters
General repair work
Use of chainsaw and backpack sprayer
Basic DIY and dealing with any issues on estate buildings and cottages
