Professionally run family event yard requires a senior Groom/Rider who can take sole responsibility, but also work well with one other part time person.

The family currently have 4 horses competing from Novice to 3* and a hunter/hack which you will be responsible for. The yard is in a beautiful location 10 miles North of Ware, Hertfordshire. The yard has excellent facilities, including all year round turn out and a large all weather menage. It is also undergoing complete refurbishment.

The heart of this role is each horses wellbeing and all round competition fitness. You will be a crucial support to a young rider who has big dreams and ambition.

The jockey who has competed for GB at junior level is currently in her first year at university which is why a new team member is vital.

The Position

  • All yard duties to a high standard

Groom -(4 days a week)- Nr Euston, Suffolk – REF JF1883

Experienced Groom required for private yard located in a lovely location close to Thetford on the border with Suffolk. You will be joining a team of 4 with 2 of the team being apprentices who are absolutely brilliant, caring for a variety of horses, including Eventing sporthorses, a hunter and a Shetland pony.

The horses vary in age from youngstock to experienced competition horses.

Ideally the new groom will be able work 32 hours a week over 4 days, which will include at least 1 weekend day. There will be extra hours/days available during busy periods.

Hours:

  • 8.30am – 5.30pm

The yard has great facilities, such as barn stables (a plus in wet weather), outdoor arena, horse walker, paddocks and the advantage of excellent hacking.

One of the housekeepers is leaving after 21 fabulous years working for the family. She will be greatly missed and we are looking for someone perfect to step into her shoes. This is a live in position and a large fully furnished, warm lodge will be offered, allowing for a short walk across the garden to work each day. The lodge has a fully fitted kitchen, 55” TV and super speed broadband. It is situated in mature grounds with an abundance of trees and greenery and is very quiet and private. The family have 2 large dogs and 3 cats so an animal lover is essential.

The family have 3 grown up children who live away but come to stay occasionally, so the house is very quiet most of the time.

The usual day will start at 06.45 for one person and 9am for the other (when 2 housekeepers are on) and finish 6/7pm(later when the family give occasional dinner parties).

Within these hours there will be a 3 hour break, allowing for time away from the house. There will be periodic weekends required with time off in lieu.

The location lends itself to outdoor activities such as coastal walking, sea swimming, running, cycling etc.

Potentially coming to housekeep and assist the chef in the family’s annual holiday on a Scottish Estate for two weeks.

Responsible for the smooth running of all aspects of the Estate Office and some administrative aspects of The Main Lodge and assist with practical projects relating to property refurbishment. Organise preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs.

The role is full time 9am-5pm Monday to Friday primarily office based but some home working can be considered.

The position requires a flexible approach to work and hours worked to ensure deadlines are met especially at busy period, being August to November. This could mean working an occasional weekend and/or evening.

The small office team consists of the Estate Manager, a full time Bookkeeper & HR Administrator, a part time Land and Estates Administrator and the Office Manager. These members of staff report to the Estate Manager but manage office tasks between themselves.  The office team will cover for each other’s holidays and when there are significant changes in anyone’s workload.

  • Provide daily care for 30 head of Wagyu cattle with the view of expanding the herd over the next three years whilst producing high quality grade beef.

  • Engage with breeding programs, lambing, and calving operations with a focus on welfare and productivity.

Daily Nanny required for a family with 2 boys (8 and 4 years old), a girl (3 years old) and twins (1 years old). The role will be sole charge, working 44 hours per week, Monday- Thursday (7am to 6.30pm).

All children have limited use of TV/iPad during term time and only available on weekends with protected time. The children enjoy food, they do not eat red meat but are OK with fish and chicken.

The family home is situated on just under 6 acres of land including a river and mini forest. They have a large garden which the children enjoy. There is an opportunity for a ‘green fingered’ nanny to establish a vegetable and fruit patch in the greenhouse should they wish!

The family currently have a Norland nanny, who is due to go on maternity leave at the end of April 2025. They are looking for someone to join the family either as a permanent nanny or a fixed term maternity cover and open for a start date between January and April with at least a week’s handover. Exercise Rider- Thetford, Norfolk (accommodation available) – RR1824

Experienced Exercise Rider required for beautiful, top class training and rehabilitation centre on the outskirts of Thetford, Norfolk.

Hours:

Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 4.30pm and working alternate weekends with a day off in lieu as compensatory rest. The position would come with company accommodation.

Tasks and Activities:

  • Riding racehorses returning from injury or weakness upto and including cantering exercise, for maximum of 2 to 3 lots per day.
  • Assisting in the rehabilitation of horses through the correct and approved procedures including treadmill, water treadmill, swimming, assisting farriers and veterinary surgeons as required.
  • Assisting with the distribution of food and bedding and the disposal of soiled and dirty materials.
  • Carrying out routine duties including mucking out, feeding and grooming horses within the stud.
  • Travelling horses to exercise or move to other locations as directed.
  • Preparation of horses for sales and attending bloodstock sales as necessary.
  • Conducting all tasks in accordance with and observing the health and safety policies including the correct use of equipment and personal protective equipment.
  • Any other ad hoc tasks as required.

  • Proven experience and competency at riding thoroughbreds. (essential)
  • Use of rehabilitation equipment. (desirable, training will be given)
