We are looking for someone who can carry out all yard duties to a high standard and provide first class care to the 13 horses on site.

The horses are hunters and driving horses so the groom must have excellent turn out skills-clipping, plaiting, trimming etc. Experience with driving horses would be great but not a dealbreaker.

Full Time experienced Head Gardener required for a beautiful private country house located between Lavenham and Bury St Edmunds. This is a live in position with accommodation provided in the village.

We are looking for an experienced gardener, who has worked as a private gardener previously and has excellent references to look after and manage this beautiful garden consisting of flower beds, lawns, hedges, a walled garden and small vegetable patch. There is roughly 8 acres of garden and within this a large moat (separately maintained) and wild areas. There is also about 8 acres of paddocks which are either grazed or cut.

This is a full time position, Monday – Friday 8am – 4pm (hours can be flexible). This is a live in position with a 4 bedroom modern bungalow provided in the local village. Duties to include

  • To keep all drives, gardens, borders and paved areas clean and tidy
  • Maintain the current borders to a high standard and water all new planting and tubs
  • Cut wood and fill log baskets
  • Cutting all lawns, long grass and grass rides around the fields, hedge cutting and using weed killer where necessary
  • Keep gutters clear of leaves, etc.

Pool Maintenance/ Groundsperson, White Colne, Essex REF SP1685

Part Time Pool Maintenance person required for a busy private hire pool based in White Colne, Essex. The Pool Maintenance position can be worked alongside the 2 day’s a week Groundsperson position, or they can be two separate positions.

Our client has a wonderful farm that is home to a number of successful businesses they they run themselves. They would like some additional help with keeping the grounds well maintained, the maintenance of the pool managed and help with the Willow Weaving business.

The ideal person for the Pool Maintenance position will be someone very local and possibly looking for an ‘extra income’ , who doesn’t mind being available most mornings and evenings. The role does require someone every morning and evening Mon-Thurs before 8.30am and after 9pm to clean and check chemical levels of the pool. The weekends can be worked on a rota, but ideally they would be worked most of the time by the successful applicant. The total hours worked each day will be around 1.5 hours.

The groundsperson position requires someone to do any gardening/ maintenance jobs as required, including; hedge cutting, mowing, strimming, painting, fixing fences etc. Our client has a successful Willow Weaving business and the owners would love someone who is passionate with a great work ethic to be involved with this also. The groundsperson/ willow weaving would be roughly 2 days a week work and would require someone to be flexible with days.
Full training for both the Pool Maintenance and willow weaving will be given. Experience will be required for the groundsperson/ handyperson position.

  • Daily checking, cleaning and chemical testing of the swimming pool, both before it opens in the morning and after it closes at night. This could possibly be shared on a rota system if two applicants would like to job share.

Team Leader for the Countryside Stewardship Heritage Service required on a FTC until March 2025 with the potential to continue for approximately 4 more years. This is a job share with one other person (already appointed) to cover the South West of England – Birmingham, London, Cambridge and Bristol. The role is hybrid working with an attached office (Bristol) – 21.5 hours per week.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Management:

  • Lead and Manage a team of Heritage Service Officers (Countryside Stewardship) and a Business officer, providing additional capacity to support their work as necessary
  • Develop the capabilities and manage the workloads of the team, building their confidence and professional ability
  • Ensure knowledge of and compliance with agreed practices and standards
  • Using your own expertise in Countryside Stewardship, you will support your team to provide advice on challenging Higher Tier Capital grants and PA2 Feasibility studies applications

The Role

To work as a key member of the team supporting a dynamic, driven and commercially focussed business of property consultants, by providing a wide range of services to the Partners of the firm in the form of PA and secretarial duties, including diary management, travel arrangements, typing and report creation, confident telephone manner, considerable client contact daily.

The role will be, at times, pressured but as part of a small yet effective team, responsibilities are shared.

The role will be to work very closely with the Partners and their clients to always deliver a first-class service, operating largely in the Rural sector across East Anglia and further afield.

The successful applicant will need to work as part of a team but also have the initiative to work independently and with enthusiasm, be willing to bring forward new ideas, whilst at the same time embracing current practises.

The role will be varied, and responsibilities will include but not limited to –

  • day-to-day PA support.

  • invoicing on behalf of the Partners and liaising with clients to ensure timely payment of accounts.

The children are both school age, one is at a local school and the other is at boarding school.

Hours:

Days of work:

Ideally a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and possibly a Friday afternoon. The core days would be a Tuesday and Thursday as these tend to be the busiest afternoons with a lot going on.

Breakdown of the position:

Term time:

Monday – 3pm-6.30pm (3.5 hours)

  • Would involve a school collection at 3.15. A short walk to a dance class (500 metres away). Dance ends 4.45. Home for tea etc

Tuesday- 3pm or 5.30pm start- 9pm finish (3.5 or 6 hours)

  • School collection at 3.15 . Home for quick supper. Leave home at 6.30 for Guides in Ware (20 min drive). Involves waiting nearby and collecting at 8.30pm. This could potentially be a shared day – Mum could perhaps do school pick up, but would then need someone to take over later, by 5.30 latest. Mum will then need to go to Cambridge to see her son perform. Someone could cover the lot from 3,15-9pm or they could do 5.30-9pm if more convenient. This is to be confirmed.

Thursday- 2.45-8.15pm (5.5 hours)

  •  School pick up at 2.45pm. Drive to Hertford for singing lesson (takes 25 mins). Wait at singing lesson/nearby. Come home for tea etc. Mum wouldn’t be around at all and would be back  at 8.15pm so  it will be sole charge.

Friday- 3.15pm-6pm (2.45 hours)

  • 3.15 school collection. Little play in the park with friends, then home for tea etc.

All mileage will be covered for driving but the person must be happy to use their own car.

School Holidays:

A lot more flexible. If the person would rather have holidays off entirely that’s not a problem, if however they would like to continue working throughout, that’s fine too. The hours will change and will be more daytime than afternoon/evening.

This would suit an experienced, local, caring and kind person who is ultra reliable and trustworthy.

Clean driving licence essential.
