Estate Gardener

The majority of the estate is parkland/woodland, but it also has a beautiful formal garden consisting of attractive lawns, topiary, mixed beds and borders, roses, wisteria, orchard, lakes, hedges, tree lined driveway, old established trees.

The garden now needs an enthusiastic, committed and passionate person who can focus their attention on bringing it back to its original beauty. Someone with a real flair who takes a pride in their work would be best suited.

The successful person will be very hands on and have extensive horticultural knowledge. They will need to be energetic, ambitious and physically fit.  PA1/PA6 spray certificates and chainsaw licence are essential.  A driving licence is required for the role due to the rural location of the estate.

There is a wide range of machinery including garden tools, tractor and trailer, therefore the ability to operate a range of garden machinery and good craft skills are also desirable for the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Orchard and vegetable garden

Experienced, qualified gardener required for beautiful formal gardens within a private country estate located approx 3 miles South of Woodbridge and 6 miles East of Ipswich. Easy access from the A12.

Hours will be 3/4 days a week with 5 days during the summer months.

The ideal person will have excellent horticultural knowledge and be able to provide fully checkable references from previous, similar gardening positions. The ability to maintain the high standards is a must and also to understand what needs doing in the garden throughout the year. This is a very hands on position and would therefore only suit someone who wants to do the work themselves and not manage others! An enthusiastic, passionate gardener would be the ideal candidate.

The gardens were designed by Suffolk based Swedish, designer Mia Witham Niklasson and comprise, formal borders, shrubs, trees, rose garden, a cutting garden, vegetable garden, topiary, water feature and formal lawns. There is a groundsperson employed who carries out most of the grass cutting and hedge cutting. The gardens provide a wonderful working environment.

The family also have a variety of pets on the property so they would prefer an animal lover who is comfortable around dogs, cats and chickens.

Someone who would like to keep bees on the estate would be very welcome as this is something the family used  to do.

There could be the opportunity on occasions to drive for the family for the right person, so a clean driving licence essential. A good, confident, safe driver who is happy driving large luxury cars would be an advantage.

Lavender Hall Kindergarten is looking to expand their team of nursery practitioners. This is an exciting opportunity to join their amazing team known for it’s fun and caring culture.

You must have a warm, caring and sensitive nature. It is essential that the nursery nurses are committed to sharing their skills, training and abilities to ensure that each child is cared for and benefits from all Lavender Hall’s planned activities and facilities.

Their purpose-built nursery is situated within the beautiful village of East Bergholt Suffolk, with easy access to the A12 and sufficient parking. The nursery is bright and inviting and there are two garden spaces, one of these being a Woodland Garden.

Qualifications:

They are looking for practitioners that hold a level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years and Childcare and who have a strong drive and passion for creating an exceptional learning environment for children.

Job type / Hours:

They would like staff to be available to work 8am-6pm Monday to Friday, full time staff would be allocated a day off in the week. For part time position this would be three days a week.

These are permanent positions.

A competitive, above minimum wage salary will be offered and will be dependant on qualifications and experience.
